Tim Jones

Tim would describe himself as a mandolin player - but he also plays other 4 course instruments in GDAE tuning such as tenor guitar and tenor banjo. He shares his enjoyment of playing Scottish and Irish traditional music with his brother in law Kevin Macleod of the Occasionals who has helped develop his playing, with particular emphasis on the close relation of the music to dance, and assisted in depleting his bank balance in pursuit of fine instruments.

He plays with Jingbang Ceilidh Band and has guested with a number of other bands - principally the Occasionals and the mighty Coigach Ceilidh Band - and increasingly is getting into mastering the joys of performance playing.

With a background in adult education and with a real desire to help people improve their playing and musicality the emphasis in his classes will be on informality, sharing and fun.
