A FOOT-TAPPING concert of traditional Scottish and Irish music was held in Culter Village Hall on Friday, October 27. to raise funds for Easter Anguston Farm Training Centre, Peterculter. All proceeds from the concert will help to fund a three-day study tour of farms and flower nurseries in Holland next spring for Easter Anguston's service users, all young adults with learning difficulties. The training centre provides meaningful training in farming and horticulture, helping trainees to gain self-confidence, self-esteem and independence through their placements there. This was the second concert in aid of Easter Anguston organised by Piper community correspondent Kathleen Robertson. As a tutor for SCaT (Scottish Culture & Tradition) adult evening classes in Aberdeen, Mrs Robertson has been able to bring the best of SCaT musicians to the Cutter concert, along with other well-known musicians. As well as SCaT pipers and singers, star guests included local Culter resident Kenny Hadden, nationally-known flute and whistle player who tutors for Aberdeen International Youth Festival, members of the Flying Pieman ceilidh band from Banchory, and fiddler David Anderson of the well-known Tarland fiddle-playing family.
