Fèis is the Gaelic word for festival or feast. However, over the past few years the word has become associated with the Fèis movement – a series of arts tuition festivals, mainly for young people, which take place throughout Scotland.
During the Fèis participants join in three workshops. Each workshop has beginner, intermediate and advanced groups.
It is not necessary to speak Gaelic to take part in the Fèis. We do, however, create opportunities throughout the Fèis aimed at encouraging participants to pick up some of the language. It is also not necessary to have your own instruments as these will be provided.
Disciplines on offer this year:
Fiddle; Accordion; Button box; Tin Whistle; Gaelic Song; Step-dance; Highland dance; Mixed Instruments (not for beginners); Chanter/Piping; Bodhran; Drums; Celtic Art; Clarsach; Shinty; Keyboard; Guitar.
Participants should bring a packed lunch.
Please return completed forms with payment (Cheques payable to FÈIS OBAR DHEATHAIN) by 1st February 2007 to: Lynne Houston, Admin Worker, The Old Mill of Fiddes, Udny, Ellon, Aberdeenshire, AB41 6RH
