Kenn Clark

Kenn CLARK

Class: Tenor Banjo 1
Kenn Clark Kenn “cut his eye teeth” in traditional music at the age of 16 as the guitarist with the Sutherland based Hector McRae Dance Band.  Since then he has had a chequered musical history as a bassist/singer/guitarist with various bands ranging from Heavy Rock, Pop to 60s covers.  Since the early 90s, he has been the guitarist with Edinburgh based funky ceilidh band Hud Yer Wheesht.  Since 1999 he has been the guitarist/singer with the group Hoogie, regularly playing at festivals at home and abroad and currently recording their third album.

Following years of ‘serving’ tune players as part of rhythm sections, Kenn decided to join them (if you can’t beat ‘em !) by taking up the tenor banjo in 2005, and in 2006 he moved from Edinburgh to Stonehaven and immediately joined new local ceilidh band ‘Cabrach’ as the tenor banjo player alongside his brother, and SCaT guitar 1 tutor, Kevin. When not banjoing with Cabrach, ceilidhing with Hud Yer Wheesht or jumping around a festival stage with Hoogie, Kenn is a Transport Planner (a What?) - hence the need to maintain a healthy musical diversion!
