Alexander Rybak from Norway  received the highest number of points from televoters and juries from the 42 countries participating in this year's Eurovision contest with his song Fairytale. Watch it at uTube.

Alexander plays fiddle and is backed by dancers from FRIKAR dancing a Hallingsdans  (the name derives from Hallingdal, a valley in southern Norway. Two or three males may dance in rivalry, performing difficult leaps, kicks, and other acrobatic stunts to demonstrate vigour and virility.)

Alexander Rybak was born in Minsk (Belarus) on the 13th of May, 1986. He grew up in Nesodden just outside the Norwegian capital Oslo.
