TMSA Competitions Day – Saturday 20 March 2010

On Saturday the Aberdeen Branch of the Traditional Music and Song Association held its annual competitions day for traditional music and song, at Queens Cross Church halls on

Albyn Place
. With around 100 entries for the various competitions from, all age groups, a most enjoyable day was had by all, whether competing or being part of the audience. This year saw the re-establishment of a link with the City Council when the Lord Provost, Peter Stephen came along on the day and presented the Scott Skinner Rose Bowl trophy and medal to the winner of the Senior Fiddle Competition. In 1988, the City Council gifted the Rose Bowl to the Aberdeen Alternative Festival and when this festival was wound up, the Aberdeen Branch took over the running of the competitions day and have run it in March each year since 2000.
The day was finished off with an evening ceilidh which was much enjoyed by all.
