SC&T's new Patron - Alasdair Fraser

02 Dec 2012
At a reception in the Music Hall on 2nd December 2012, Alasdair Fraser was welcomed as a Patron of SC&T. Alasdair led one of the first SC&T workshops - on a snowy January day in Banchory in 1998 (?), so we were delighted that he agreed to become a Patron of SC&T.

Richard Ward welcomed Alasdair in the presence of SC&T tutors, board members and other volunteers. Cllr John Reynolds, Deputy Provost of Aberdeen and representatives of Aberdeen Performing Arts and other organisations also joined us for the event.

Gabe McVarish will be giving a fiddle workshop from 4:30pm on Friday 7th December. Registration is £10. Call the Barn Box Office to book - 01330 825431.  To quote from his website:-

Gabe McVarish originally from California and now living in Arisaig in the West Highlands of Scotland, was twice winner of the Junior US National Scottish Fiddle Championship by the age of seventeen. He studied music under fiddler Angus Grant Sr., and earned a BA in traditional music at Glasgow’s R.S.A.M.D. Gabe has played and recorded with a rich diversity of bands including Clíar, Kathleen MacInnes, and Ewan Robertson, and plays regularly with Dannsa. Gabe is one of the founding members of the sensational Gaelic band Dáimh
